I began photographing theater and dance on my own. In college, I had a season pass for Busch Gardens and I would often go simply to photograph their live performances. While other photographers were interested in photographing their favorite bands (I loved that as well), I always preferred theater and dance. There’s a simple humanness in stage art. Theater and dance have been instinctual ways humans have communicated ideas and stories for ages. Soon after my trips to Busch Gardens, I found myself working at the University of South Florida’s College of the Arts photographing their theater and dance performances. I continued doing so from 2009 to 2016 when I moved to Charlotte, NC.
